These would usually match the 6 digit Steam title ID but with non steam games a new one is created for any. This step will create a new Wine prefix in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/ with a 10 digit random number. Attempt to start the game from the Steam library, it should take a moment and then give you an error indicating it can't find the social club. I don't recommend Proton Experimental for GTA V.Ģ. Open the shortcuts properties and on the Compatibility tab, check "Force the use of a compatibility tool" and select Proton 6.X-X. Start by adding GTA V as a non Steam game, browse to the games install dir and choose PlayGTAV.exe. You could move a Lutris install if you wanted to instead, but having the full game will ensure you don't end up with multiple Wine prefixes made by Steam.ġ. I copied the game from my Windows install, so I already had the full game downloaded before starting.
